OR Communities

Operational Research is a broad field, which is why we structure our community through Special Interest Groups (SIGs) and Regional Networks. These groups are run by members, for members, and are the best way to connect with others in your area of expertise.

Joining a Regional Network allows you to:

• Connect with professionals in sectors such as health, defence or data science
• Attend local and online networking events
• Build relationships within your local OR community

Joining a SIG allows you to:

• Connect with professionals working in the same method area, such as simulation, behavioural OR or problem structuring methods
• Share knowledge and explore new approaches
• Discuss challenges with others facing similar problems

Being a member of The OR Society is more than just a professional membership; it's enabled me to get involved in a community by attending engaging conference and events, has given me the opportunity to shape the future of Operational Research by supporting the Early Career Researcher's Network, and grow a network full of professionals and academics.
